Natures Chemistry by Gary Harrell

Nature's Chemistry by Gary HarrellNature's Chemistry is a charming children's book that I believe will delight children and adults alike. The story is about Thomas, an outdoors man who is on his way to a nature hike. Unfortunately, he makes a terrible mistake and is mistakenly apprehended by a pair of poachers. They capture him and eventually kill him.Once Thomas is dead, the poachers take some measurements from him. But, after cleaning up the remains, they find out that Thomas had more information that they could use to their advantage. He was a well-known botanist, which gives them clues that they can use to identify plants and other plants that they would be able to sell. They go on with the plan to use Thomas's knowledge to steal some 'Nature's Chemistry'. With some help from some friends, they try to get some of this 'Science' to sell to the best plant dealers. Unfortunately, this 'Sciency' knowledge only makes things worse. Since nature's chemistry is what they needed in order t o sell the plants, they were stolen from them.A nice twist that comes from this book is that Nature's Chemistry is actually used to make some real life decisions in the book. Thomas was able to tell the thieves that the money for them was in the bag of plants. When the thieves left, Thomas discovered it and brought it back to the police station. The police were able to get the thief arrested for the crimes he had committed and were able to recover some of Nature's Chemistry. Many of the plants that are sold in pet stores contain nicotine. Most people have a misconception that the tobacco plants that are used for chewing contain the highest amounts of nicotine. But, the truth is that the ones that are used for smokeless cigarettes contain much less nicotine than the other forms of cigarettes. Some of the other plants that have been found to contain nicotine include Mary Jane (plant that looks like a peppermint), skunk weed, tomato and ginseng. One thing that I really liked about this b ook is that it was very interesting to read. I felt like I was not just learning about plants but I was also learning about life in general. I felt like I was reading a book where a man is a scientist that got caught by a bunch of criminals.I did not think that the book contained any inaccuracies in terms of the scientific aspects of Nature's Chemistry. It just did not have the feel of a young-adult novel. I did not think that the author, Gary Harrell, did a bad job writing this book, but I did think that it had more elements of a children's book than a book for adults. But, if you're looking for a novel that is rich in fact and scientific accuracy, then I suggest that you give this book a chance.I gave this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars because I do not think that the lack of accuracy hurts the story itself. Although, I do wish that the story would have included some aspects of biology and also the characters more.
